Introducedin 1873, the platinum printing process contributed to the development ofphotography as a fine art medium. The process fell out of favor at the adventof WWI, however, a number of artists continued to explore the medium for itsaesthetic qualities. Today artists continue to revisit historical printingtechniques such as scott b. davis who builds his own large format cameras tocapture photographs in urban and natural landscapes. In conversation withassistant curator of photography Arpad Kovacs, davis will discuss hisphotographic practice and the inherent challenges of working with a medium thatis notoriously difficult to manage.
